Herdringen Business Association Wiebelsheide
Tillmann Werkzeugbau Profiltechnik participated in a collaboration between the Wiebelsheide business association in Herdringen and the Grimmeschule school.
On the initiative of the Herdringen business association Wiebelsheide (HUG for short), a collaboration with the Grimmeschule school in Neheim was launched last autumn.
The aim of the project was to give pupils at Grimmeschule school an initial insight into the world of work and, at the same time, to establish contacts with potential internship and training companies. At the same time, the companies got to know potential young talent personally. In the best case scenario, this will lead to concrete prospects for a future training position.
From September 2024 to July 2025, a total of 18 pupils from Years 8 to 10 took part, giving them the opportunity to get to know the eight companies in the Wiebelsheide industrial estate better.
Before visiting the companies, the companies first introduced themselves to the pupils at school. In an approximately one-hour information session, the group was informed about important aspects of the respective production, products and services. Other key topics included occupational health and safety.
During the following appointments, the pupils visited the companies in organised small groups of 3-4 participants. Accompanied by one or two teachers, the children were able to gain their first insights into the working world of companies in the fields of industry, crafts and trade. The company visits took place as part of the weekly elective classes for grades 8 to 10. The companies’ training managers showed and explained a great deal about what everyday working life entails. The pupils also had the opportunity to gain some initial practical experience. A wide range of hands-on activities were available for this purpose, with tasks to try out on site and small projects to take home.
Based on the positive experiences from last year, this initiative will be continued in the coming school year.
Christina Kastner, Grimmeschule school management team: We are very grateful to the Wiebelsheide business community in Herdringen for this opportunity to collaborate. It is a great chance for our pupils to take their first steps into the world of work and get to know local businesses. It is particularly valuable that schools and businesses are coming together and benefiting from each other. Our young people have gained many new impressions with great openness, curiosity and enthusiasm – and in doing so have also discovered what they might want to do later in life. As a school, it is important to us to open up new perspectives for young people in this way and to further expand our career guidance, which is already a high priority. The consistently positive feedback encourages us to continue the project in the future – with the aim of offering this valuable opportunity to more pupils and local companies.”
Philipp Jerusalem, Managing Director of Tillmann Werkzeugbau Profiltechnik GmbH and 1st Chairman of the Arnsberg Business Association Herdringen: “We were delighted with the commitment shown by the Grimmeschule and the interest shown by the pupils. It is important for local businesses and schools to work more closely together. This allows us to combine the interests of the pupils with those of our member companies. It helps if we have already got to know each other beforehand. We are therefore confident that this will lead to further opportunities. Based on the positive experiences from the last school year, we want to continue this cooperation next year.”
