The Tillmann Group offers a wide range of services that are individually tailored to the needs of our customers. With an experienced team of engineers, technicians and designers, the development of new profiles and products is continuously driven forward to ensure best results.
In recent months, our logistics capabilities have been significantly increased. These include the assembly of components, the production of complete assemblies and the storage of finished profiles. These measures enable reliable just-in-time delivery and make the Tillmann Group a strong partner in the industry.
Roll forming is a continuous bending process in which the material runs from a coil into the roll forming machine. There, it is slowly formed into the desired profile cross-section. In almost all cases, the profiles are produced directly in the desired profile length. There is no need for an additional working step for cutting to length.
Roll-formed profiles made of high-strength steels are playing an increasingly important role in the design of crash-relevant structures in automotive engineering. High-strength steel grades with a tensile strength of up to 1,700 MPa/ mm² are manufactured by the Tillmann Group. This is often followed by further processing steps such as bending and laser cutting.
Compared to extruded aluminum crash profiles in particular, high-strength steel profiles have major advantages in terms of material costs, design flexibility and the CO₂ footprint of the primary material and further processing.
Punching systems are arranged before, between or after the rolling operations. When and where these punching systems are used, depends on the geometry of the profile cross-section and the tolerances required by the customer.
The Tillmann Group produces a large number of profiles with closed cross-sections done with laser welding. The position of the laser beam in relation to the profile is constantly controlled by the system. As well as the welding seam itself, which is also monitored by a specific closed loop process in order to guarantee the required welding quality at all time.
With the integration of laser cutting mashines, we process our profiles according to customer specifications: The high-precision cutting of windows and engravings are possible, without any necessary deburring operation. Also, smaller batch sizes can be produced with high productivity due to quick set-up times.
Our bending technology enables us to produce profiles with a continuous radius. The bending process is usually integrated into the profiling machine, which saves additional working steps. If further bends should be required, it is always possible to apply these in a separate operation.
During stretch bending, the ends of the profile section are held in pliers and tensioned. This profile is then pulled and formed over a solid bending tool. The position of the neutral fiber is redirected by the stretching process. In this way, the dementional accuracy can be secured.
The Tillmann Group offers a wide range of punching technologies using state of the art mashines with the use of progressive dies. Our finished components can be produced in single, double or multiple folds per punching stroke.
Many profiles from the Tillmann Group are surface-treated. The following processes are generally used:
Our customer service ranges from the initial inquiry to just-in-time delivery. Competent technical advice and concurrent engenering during the development phase ensures a cost-efficent profile design and best cost products.
Once the profiles have been manufactured, many other services can be offered. For example, the assembly of add-on parts and components, warehousing, packaging and just-in-time delivery.
